The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Chief Executive Officer Mr. Cornwell Muleya says young fresh innovative ideas are key for the creation of sustainable wealth that will benefit the current and future Zambians.
Speaking through a speech read on his behalf by the Acting Chief Human Capital Officer Mr. Owen Kabanda during the Open Innovation Challenge (OIC) Pitch Day thought leadership session organised by the University of Lusaka (UNILUS), Mr. Muleya said IDC recognizes that the future of Zambia’s economy lies in the contribution of ingenuity, boldness of entrepreneurs and ideas from the young generation.
Mr. Muleya disclosed that events such as the OIC Pitch Day are platforms for innovative minds to present their ideas, challenge the status quo, and showcase solutions that have the potential to shape industries and contribute to Zambia’s economic transformation.
The Chief Executive Officer commended the University of Lusaka in their noble efforts to create opportunities for engaging with different stakeholders in the generation of young innovators, visionaries, and business leaders.
He added that IDC ‘s involvement in such activities resonates well with the Corporation’s mission of stimulating investment, create jobs, and building a more resilient economy.
“This mission cannot be accomplished in isolation as it requires partnerships between academia and industry, between visionaries and investors, between experienced leaders and young trailblazers like the ones being showcased at the event”, Mr. Muleya disclosed.
He expressed gratitude to the University management for inviting IDC and reminded the students that their brilliant work, represents the hope of a better and more innovative Zambia.
