AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY
A well performing agricultural sector translates into significant improvements in the country's GDP, contributes to employment generation, poverty reduction and broadens the country's tax base.
The sector is important in the country’s objective to industrialise the economy through value addition to various natural endowments thereby creating jobs. The IDC is mandated to support and initialize new ventures that develop industrial capacity and create jobs in the Zambian economy.
Infrastructure is vital for economic development. The IDC says infrastructure development is a priority sector, and it is upheld in both the National Development Plan and Vision 2030, since the sector cuts across all sectors and it has unlimited potential.
Government has identified tourism, including arts and culture as one of the priority growth sectors of the national economy. Tourism has also been singled out by Government as one of the priority areas for investment due to its numerous forward and backward linkages to various other sectors of the economy.
