STORES OFFICER

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To effectively manage inventory through the development and utilization of systems and procedures that ensure the availability of materials for smooth operations of IDC.

 

REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY

This position will be reporting to the Manager – Procurement & Supplies.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Manages the operations of the IDC’s Inventory Management System through the management of stock parameters to effectively control stocks and avoid overstocking, stock-outs, and ensure correct usage at all times.
  • Plans and coordinates the replenishment of stock materials to ensure smooth operations of the IDC.
  • Carries out spot checks to verify the accuracy of stock records and ensures that inventories are secure and safe to prevent losses/damages.
  • Designs and reviews stores record-keeping systems for the efficient management of stock at the IDC.
  • Reviews and recommends identified redundant and obsolete stocks for disposal.
  • Prepares and produces periodic reports on the operations of the store’s section for management’s decision-making.
  • Contributes to the development and review of Stores Procedures Manual to ensure compliance and efficiency of store management.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and procurement planning for all stock items to meet the IDC’s annual operational requirements.
  • Performs any other related duties that the supervisor may reasonably request from time to time.

 

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with credits or better.
  • Degree in Purchasing & Supply; Business Administration; Economics or Commerce from reputable University with Graduate Diploma – Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
  • Proficiency in Inventory Management Systems will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a fully paid-up member to relevant professional bodies.
  • Three (3) years relevant post-qualification experience with a bias in purchasing and supply.
  • Strong ICT skills.
