SENIOR PROCUREMENT OFFICER
Kalene Hills Fruit Company Limited (KHFCL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zambia Fruit Company, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant in Mwinilunga District, North-Western Province of Zambia.
As part of its growth strategy, the Company is looking to fill the following position:
SENIOR PROCUREMENT OFFICER
Role Overview:
The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for managing procurement processes, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, and optimizing supply chain operations. The role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing procurement budgets, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to support operational efficiency. This position reports to the Commercial Manager.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management:
- Oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to contract management.
- Identify and source reliable suppliers for goods and services.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Conduct market research and supplier evaluations for cost-effective procurement.
- Contract Management:
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing with vendors.
- Ensure all contracts comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contract renewals, amendments, and terminations effectively.
- Monitor contract performance and address any issues that arise.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with public procurement laws, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Mitigate supply chain risks by ensuring vendor reliability and quality assurance.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to procurement policies and procedures.
- Budget Management:
- Work with the finance team to plan and control procurement budgets.
- Monitor and analyze procurement expenses to improve efficiency.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure efficient transportation and delivery of procured items.
- Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve any procurement-related issues.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
- Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
- Minimum five (5) years of work experience in a similar position.
