  1. JOB PURPOSE

 

The overall purpose of this position is to is to support the Supervisor in the management of investment projects from ideation to implementation. This role involves assisting in market research, financial analysis, project planning, coordination, and compliance to ensure projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The position plays a crucial role in gathering data, preparing documentation, and facilitating communication among stakeholders to drive the success of investments and contribute to IDC’s strategic goals.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)

Investment Project Ideation and Development

 

  • Assist in conducting market research to identify potential investment opportunities in the manufacturing sector.
  • Collect and compile relevant data to support feasibility studies and project proposals.
  • Help develop initial project concepts and proposals based on gathered data and research findings.
  • Provide support in refining project ideas and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Assist in engaging with potential investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to gather support and insights for the projects.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, presentations, and discussions.

Analysis

Assist in developing financial models to forecast project profitability, cash flows, and returns on investment.

  • Perform preliminary financial analysis to support investment decisions.
  • Assist in preparing investment proposals and business plans for review by senior management and investors.
  • Ensure proposals include necessary financial, technical, and operational details.

 

Risk Assessment

  • Help identify potential risks associated with the projects and develop basic strategies to mitigate them.
  • Support the preparation of risk assessment reports and contingency plans.

 

Project Planning

  • Assist in developing detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure alignment with project objectives.

 

Project Implementation

  • Support the execution of investment projects, ensuring they are implemented on time and within budget.
  • Assist in coordinating with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Help monitor project progress against established milestones and timelines.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance and Documentation

  • Assist in ensuring all necessary regulatory approvals and permits are obtained for the projects.
  • Help liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Help prepare for and assist with internal and external audits related to the projects.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.

Transition to Portfolio Management

  • Assist in preparing detailed handover documentation, including project summaries, financials, and operational guidelines.
  • Ensure all necessary information is prepared and submitted to the Supervisors for transfer of the project company to the Portfolio Directorate.
  • Provide support in training and assisting the Portfolio Management team to ensure a smooth transition.

  1. ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  • Professional Qualification:
    • Grade 12 School Certificate
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, and/or equivalent Professional Qualification in relevant field from reputable institution.
    • Relevant Professional Membership
  • Minimum Relevant Work Experience:
    • 2 years relevant work experience or similar position.
