Kalene Hills Fruit Company Limited (KHFCL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zambia Fruit Company, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant in Mwinilunga District, North-Western Province of Zambia.
As part of its growth strategy, the Company is looking to fill the following position:
FINANCE OFFICER
Role Overview:
The Finance Officer is responsible for financial management, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and efficiency in financial operations. The role involves managing budgeting, financial transactions, cash flow, and statutory compliance while providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making. This position reports to the Senior Finance Officer.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Financial Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company accounting policies.
- Maintain proper documentation and reconciliation of financial records to support audit readiness.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal stakeholders, senior management, and external auditors.
- Assist in the preparation of financial performance reports, variance analysis, and financial projections.
- Budget Management & Financial Planning:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the company’s budget.
- Conduct budget variance analysis and provide recommendations for financial adjustments.
- Support financial forecasting, expenditure tracking, and cost management initiatives.
- Internal Controls & Risk Management:
- Implement and monitor internal control mechanisms to safeguard company assets and prevent financial mismanagement.
- Conduct periodic reviews of financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies to senior management.
- Audit Coordination:
- Assist in internal and external audits by preparing the required documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Address any audit findings and implement corrective measures to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of financial transactions to facilitate smooth audit processes.
- Tax & Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and timely statutory filings (e.g., VAT, PAYE, corporate tax).
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and advise management on necessary compliance actions.
- Liaise with tax authorities and financial regulators to ensure adherence to statutory obligations.
- Financial Analysis & Decision Support:
- Provide financial insights and support to the Senior Finance Officer and management for business decision-making.
- Assist in financial forecasting, scenario analysis, and risk assessment.
- Evaluate financial performance metrics and provide recommendations to enhance profitability.
- Operational Efficiency & Systems Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and operational efficiencies within the finance department.
- Support the implementation and optimization of financial management systems and software.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve overall financial workflow and process automation.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
- Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Affiliate membership (Graduate, Licentiate or Technician) with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in an accounting role.
