CHIEF CORPORATE SERVICES

  1. JOB PURPOSE

To oversee the formulation and implementation of policies, systems, standards, and procedures for effective management of the Corporate Services Directorate, ensuring consistency, best practices, and quality assurance in line with IDC’s strategic objectives.

 

This role is critical in driving IDC’s strategic objectives by providing oversight and direction for procurement, ICT, administration, and corporate communication. The position directly impacts operational efficiency, compliance, and the quality of support services across the Corporation.

To provide strategic leadership by presenting Corporate Services needs and plans to the Management Executive Committee (MEC), shareholders, and the Board of Directors.

This position is a member of the Management Executive Committee.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)

Strategic Planning and Implementation

  • Participates in the formulation and review of the IDC Strategic Plan.
  • Develops the IDC Corporate Services in compliance with the IDC Group Strategy and mandate.
  • Aligns the Corporate Services Strategy to the corporate strategy, vision, mission, and values to optimise Corporate Services productivity.
  • Oversee formulation, implementation, and review of Corporate Services Manuals, Policies, and procedures according to organisation objectives. 

Departmental Planning Budget

  • Prepares and owns development of departmental workplan and budget
  • Minimise operational costs by ensuring that division expenditure remains within budget approval and savings made from budget.

Advisory

  • Acts as chief advisor on all corporate services related matters to the Chief Executive Officer and Management Executive Team
  • Provides guidance and input on Corporate Communication, Procurement, ICT, Real Estate and Administrative related matters in the IDC Group.

Administration

  • Superintends over the Administration department and ensures that all departments are supported administratively to ensure they all operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure the provision of a good, secure and healthy working environment; and facilitate all operational logistics. 

Procurement

  • Superintends over the procurement department and ensures that value for money is obtained from the procurement of goods, services and works
  • Ensure that Procurement function adheres to a high level of transparency and accountability in accordance with the Public Procurement Act and its attendant Regulations

ICT

  • Superintends over the ICT department and ensures that all departments are effectively supported.
  • Ensures the Dept provides efficient and effective technical support service that is strategically aligned to the Corporate Objectives.
  • Ensures that information security and governance, ICT infrastructure and systems supports the institutions’ productivity levels to operate effectively

Corporate Communication

  • Superintends over the Corporation Communication Department activities.
  • Ensure the implementation of strategies that enhance visibility and raise awareness of the corporate image and brand to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective stakeholder management of the Publics and maintain good Government and Investor Relations.

Enhanced Group and Project support

  • Contribute towards the achievement in Group revenue year-on-year through enhancing IDCs oversight and support frameworks, improving Group Congruence, and enhancing capacity as well as internal controls in subsidiaries.
  • Ensure improved revenue quality and broaden revenue base
  • Ensure enhanced technical subsidiary support.
  • Application of all relevant statutory, regulatory, and professional standards whilst supporting
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to innovate and add value
  • Demonstrate willingness to take and adhere to difficult decisions – even under pressure.
  • Participate in all Corporate Services in the Group that require IDC intervention.

Increased efficiency

  • Contribute to towards non-dividend revenues to total revenue and raise adequate capital to support the Corporation’s transformation programme
  • Ensure Improved efficiency through workflow processes
  • Ensure operational efficiency through retention of right talent and automation of business processes.

Enhanced Entity Risk Management

  • Ensure improved enterprise risk management.

 

People Management and Leadership

  • Mentors, coaches, and provides on-the job training to the direct reports and others as may be required from time to time.
  • Periodically submits required reports relating to mentorship and training /coaching programmes to the division in charge of Human Capital.
  • Provides input in staff development and retention strategies and ensuring these are implemented.
  • Provides input in the contribution towards technical capacity and support in internal functions.
  • Provides input in enhancing employee engagement and performance.
  • Provides and promotes sound leadership practices i.e., Inspirational Leadership in relation to direct reports.
  • Provides input in the implementation of Performance
  • Management System and Reward System.

  • Exercise the powers and duties generally exercised by the Chief Corporate Services Officer in the furtherance of the interests of the company as may be authorised by or delegated by the Chief Executive Officer.

Meetings

  • Attend stakeholder meetings and respond to matters arising
  • Prepare key departmental presentations, talking points and any other information required

  1. ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  • Professional Qualification:
    • Grade 12 School Certificate
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Project Management, Commerce, and/or equivalent Professional Qualification in a relevant field from a reputable institution.
    • Master’s degree in business administration, Procurement, Project Management, Commerce and/ or equivalent Professional Qualification in a relevant field from reputable institution.
    • Relevant Professional Membership
  • Minimum Relevant Work Experience:
    • 10 years relevant work experience in Senior Management or similar position.
