IDC CEO TOURS SUBSIDIARY INFRATEL

In his continued familiarization tours of Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) subsidiaries, Chief Executive Officer Mr Perry Mapani on Tuesday toured INFRATEL Corporation Limited to appreciate the operations of the company in ensuring that its ICT services are available and accessible in Zambia and beyond.

Wholly owned by IDC, INFRATEL is one of the largest telecommunication infrastructure providers in Zambia that owns and operates over 1,200 communication towers, three Data Centres and cloud services. It was created in 2018 with the mandate to consolidate, own, manage and commercialize all Government’s passive and sharable ICT and telecommunications Infrastructure.
Mr Mapani visited INFRATEL’s Data Centre in Lusaka, a communication tower and the Corporate Head Office.

Speaking during the tour, Mr Mapani said Infratel had branded itself well and was technically in a better position to grow its ICT business in Zambia and beyond looking at the success stories the company had recorded.

He said there was need for collective research to be done by the company and its shareholders that would make the company better, post profits and declare the much-needed dividends.

“We must start thinking of where the success patterns are coming from and think through the future where INFRATEL should be,” Mr. Mapani said.

Meanwhile, INFRATEL CEO Dr Evans Silavwe said that the company has an ambitious plan to build on the successes it has achieved so far.

Dr. Silavwe said INFRATEL had a deliberate drive to grow its solutions development and innovation revenue by strengthening the digital solutions team to ensure that new solutions for the market were developed and hosted by the company.
