Role Overview:

The Factory Manager will oversee the entire manufacturing operation, ensuring efficiency, productivity, cost control, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role focuses on optimizing production processes, leading personnel, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to industry best practices to meet business objectives. This position reports to the General Manager.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Production Management:

• Oversee end-to-end processing operations from raw material intake to finished product dispatch.
• Develop and implement production schedules to ensure optimal efficiency and minimal downtime.
• Ensure adherence to industry’s best practices, quality, and food safety standards.
• Continuously improve processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Work closely with the quality control team to ensure consistent product excellence.

2. Quality Control & Compliance:

• Enforce compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards (e.g., ISO22000).
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to address quality issues proactively.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to maintain high standards of hygiene and regulatory compliance.

3. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

• Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety training and emergency drills for employees.
• Investigate and resolve any workplace safety incidents, ensuring preventive measures are implemented.
• Promote a culture of workplace safety and continuous improvement.

4. Team Leadership & Workforce Development:

• Lead and manage plant personnel, including production supervisors, maintenance teams, and quality control staff.
• Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, training, and development programs.
• Conduct performance evaluations and implement talent development initiatives.
• Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and employee engagement.

5. Equipment & Facility Maintenance:

• Oversee routine maintenance schedules to ensure plant efficiency and minimal downtime.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan.
• Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance teams to address technical challenges proactively.

6. Inventory & Supply Chain Management:

• Work closely with procurement to ensure a steady supply of raw materials.
• Optimize inventory levels to minimize waste, reduce costs, and meet production needs.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials and finished goods.

7. Dispatch & Distribution:

• Work closely with supply chain partners, transporters, and distribution teams to optimize routes and reduce costs.
• Ensure proper documentation and tracking of all dispatched goods to maintain traceability and accountability.
• Monitor market demand and coordinate with sales and marketing teams to align distribution with customer requirements.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Production Management, Food Science or a related field.
• Professional membership with relevant bodies.
• Minimum eight (8) years of work experience in management or similar position.
