ZAMBIA AIRWAYS SENDS LOCAL PILOTS FOR TRAINING

In readiness for the operationalization of the airline on 30th September 2021, Zambia Airways has dispatched five local pilots to the Ethiopian Aviation Academy for a short-term training.

The flight crew members, all Zambian nationals, will spend the next month undergoing adaptation training to aircrafts that the airline will use once operational. The flight crew members are Ms Tiza Mumbi, Ms Chileshe Njovu, Mr Kabwe Musonda, Mr Brandon Mathis and Mr Wezi Zimba.

In addition to the flight crew members, 25 cabin crew members have already undergone training at the Ethiopian Aviation Academy and are awaiting deployment.

Bidding farewell to the pilots, Zambia Airways CEO Bruk Endeshaw said the airline would ensure that it employs Zambian nationals in its operational areas.

“It’s a huge milestone for Zambia Airways to begin operations and having you as our flight crew. You are the first batch of five flight crew to familiarize yourselves with the type of aircraft you will be using. As Zambia Airways is a national carrier we want it to be operated by Zambian nationals. We are lucky to have you as our flight crew,” said Mr Endeshaw.
