Mpulungu Harbour Corporation Limited operates Zambia's only inland water port, located on the southern shore of Lake Tanganyika in Northern Province. Established in 1930, the port provides vessel operations, cargo handling, logistics, shipping agency and transport support for domestic and cross-border trade. The IDC investment booklet identifies modernisation and capacity expansion as the central development opportunity, including additional berths, improved operations areas, refrigerated cargo support, stronger trade-corridor links and the potential for a related multi-facility economic zone.
