Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) staff joined the nation in commemorating Zambia’s 62nd Independence anniversary.

Speaking on behalf of Chief Executive Officer Mr Cornwell Muleya, Acting CEO Mr Raphael Chipoma urged staff to reflect on the sacrifices made by the country’s forebears, whose courage secured political freedom in 1964. He challenged employees to carry that torch forward by championing economic freedom, the next frontier in Zambia’s development journey. Mr Chipoma emphasised that IDC, as the nation’s industrial investment vehicle, has a major role to play in realising the Grow Zambia agenda through investments that create jobs, add value to local resources and expand wealth for citizens.

Chief Human Capital Officer Mr Owen Kabanda called on staff to demonstrate patriotism not only in words but in their daily work. He encouraged employees to ensure the timely delivery of quality projects, noting that diligence and integrity are practical ways of honouring the nation’s founders.

The celebration, which included the cutting and sharing of cake and drinks, served as a reminder that independence is not only a historic milestone but an ongoing responsibility.
