IDC is excited that Zambia Airways, “The new wings of Africa” has introduced a new regional route connecting Lusaka and Harare.
As Zambia implements the land-linked agenda, we are confident that this regional flight will reduce the cost of travel between Zambia and Zimbabwe and firmly position Zambia as a regional aviation and logistics hub.
It will further spur growth in the tourism sector with a significant multiplier effect on job creation through the different businesses in the aviation supply chain such as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, publishers and others.
The maiden flight to Harare commenced on March 28. The launch was graced by Mr Stephen Mbewe, the Acting Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, who was representing the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Hon. Frank Tayali.
The Zambian entourage was welcomed by the Chief Executive of the Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ), Mr Tawanda Gusha.
