IDC HONOURS WOMEN WITH A LUNCHEON FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) yesterday treated its women to a special luncheon to commemorate International Women’s Day.
During the luncheon, Zanaco Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Mukwandi Chibesakunda, who was the Guest of Honour, said the occasion was not only a time for celebration but a crucial call to action.
She reminded the audience of the progress made so far, while also highlighting the work that remains to achieve full gender equality. Mrs. Chibesakunda emphasized that empowering women directly empowers communities, businesses, and nations as a whole.
She reiterated the responsibility of leaders in Zanaco and IDC to create opportunities for women to thrive, pointing to Zanaco’s initiatives, such as providing collateral-free loans totalling over K1.4 billion to women-led businesses and personal loans.
Echoing these sentiments, IDC Chief Legal Officer, Mrs. Leya Mtonga-Ngoma, reinforced this year’s International Women’s Day theme: “Accelerate Action.” She spoke of the urgency to move beyond discussions and towards meaningful, impactful action.
Mrs. Ngoma called for a united front among women, encouraging them to break down barriers based on gender and strive for excellence. At IDC, she explained, inclusivity and respect for diversity, especially gender, are central to their strategy, which they believe will lead to faster and more sustainable success.
