CASSAVA PROCESSING PLANT TO BOOST ECONOMY OF CHITAMBO DISTRICT – SAYS CHITAMBO DC

Chitambo District Commissioner Mr Evans Chola says the opening of the cassava processing plant by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) will significantly boost the economy of the District. He further urged the local community and the youths to take advantage of business linkages along the value chain.
He made these remarks when a team from IDC paid a courtesy call on him to give an update on the progress made towards the imminent operationalization of Chitambo Agro Processing plant.
The District Commissioner said the local community, especially farmers have been anxious about the opening of the plant, which he said had taken long.
However, he was delighted that opening of the processing plant would provide a ready market for cassava farmers who often experience challenges selling their crop, with most travelling as far as Lusaka to find market.
Meanwhile, the District Commissioner has thanked Government for ensuring that Chitambo District was one of the beneficiaries of Government’s development agenda.
