Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Cornwell Muleya says Zambia and South Africa share more than a border as the two countries’ destiny is intertwined and their economies grow stronger when they build together.
Speaking during a courtesy call paid on him by the South African High Commissioner to Zambia, His Excellency Saad Cachalia at IDC offices in Lusaka today, Mr. Muleya said this visit comes at an opportune time, as Zambia advances the Grow Zambia campaign, which seeks to expand access to growth opportunities and attract strategic partnerships that create jobs, add value to local resources and strengthen the country’s industrial base.
He noted that the IDC remains open to working with South African investors and institutions, particularly in the areas of mining, agriculture, manufacturing and industrialisation, trade and investment, and tourism.
“Our doors are open to partners who want to invest in Zambia’s productive sectors and share in the returns. The Grow Zambia campaign is about creating opportunities that benefit both our countries,” Mr. Muleya said.
The two leaders discussed how closer cooperation could unlock growth across the mining value chain, boost agricultural productivity and Agro-processing, and promote industrialisation through manufacturing.
They also explored ways of increasing bilateral trade and investment flows and of promoting tourism as a driver of economic growth and regional integration.
For his part, High Commissioner Cachalia thanked the IDC for the warm reception and commended the Corporation for its role in driving Zambia’s industrial development.
He said South Africa stands ready to deepen its economic relations with Zambia, adding that the Grow Zambia campaign presents real opportunities for businesses on both sides.
“South Africa and Zambia are natural partners. Through collaboration in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, trade, investment and tourism, we can create shared prosperity for our people. We look forward to working closely with the IDC to turn these conversations into tangible outcomes,” High Commissioner Cachalia said.
