The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has received K110 million from ZCCM-IH, as the mining and energy investment holding company paid shareholders for the 11th year in a row.

The Board approved a final dividend of K1.13 per share for 2025 at the September 11 Annual General Meeting, totalling about K183 million. Payouts follow ownership, with IDC, the majority shareholder with 60.28% shares, receiving K110 million. The Ministry of Finance and National Planning received K32 million for its 17.25% stake while NAPSA received K27 million for the 15% stake it holds. The remaining K14 million (about 7.47% percent) goes to roughly 5,000 other minority shareholders.

Board Chairperson Mr Phesto Musonda said ZCCM-IH has returned about K2.4 billion to shareholders since 2015. Its market valuation on the Lusaka Securities Exchange has passed the US $1 billion mark.

Mr Musonda said ZCCM-IH’s investment income rose 40% in 2025. He said the dividend was paid from cash earned, not borrowing or asset sales.

Speaking for IDC Chief Executive Officer Mr Cornwell Muleya, Chief Finance Officer Mr Raphael Chipoma called ZCCM-IH "an investment that is always giving a return." He said IDC, as Government's investment arm, will plough the dividend back into industry, wealth and job creation and rural development, under the Minister of Finance's oversight. He also noted ZCCM-IH's central role in the 3 million tonne copper target under the Grow Zambia Agenda.

NAPSA's Director of Investments, Mr Matete Sichizya, said ZCCM-IH’s consistency strengthens confidence in Zambia's capital markets and assures pension members that their money is prudently invested.

Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary Mr Mulele Mulele, speaking for the Minister of Finance Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, said dividends count as non-tax revenue that funds education, health and infrastructure. He urged ZCCM-IH to balance payouts with reinvestment for long-term growth.

He urged ZCCM-IH to continue pursuing commercially viable investment opportunities while promoting mineral value addition, local participation and industries that create jobs, keep greater value in the economy and contribute to export earnings.
