On Day 2 of the Zambia Capital Markets Conference and Awards 2026, Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Chief Finance Officer, Mr. Raphael Chipoma, delivered a presentation titled "From Strategic Assets to Investable Opportunities: Building Zambia’s Bankability Bridge."
In his presentation, Mr. Chipoma outlined how IDC is transforming strategic national assets into commercially structured, investment-ready and transparently-priced opportunities for both local and international investors. He highlighted that IDC’s portfolio offers a diverse range of investment opportunities, each suited to different types of partners and different routes to conventional finance, including strategic equity partnerships, guarantees and debt financing.
Mr. Chipoma emphasised that building Zambia’s "bankability bridge" requires deliberate effort to package assets in ways that meet investor expectations around transparency, structure and returns, while also supporting the country’s broader economic transformation agenda.
He called upon the institutions represented at the conference to identify practical roles suited to their mandates and capabilities, and to actively collaborate with IDC in unlocking these opportunities.
The presentation reinforced IDC’s commitment to mobilising investment and strengthening Zambia’s capital markets, in line with the conference theme of driving economic transformation and sustainable growth.
