It was an inspiring weekend of camaraderie, reflection and laughter as the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) held a special retreat and excursion exclusively for its male staff at the scenic Tiffany’s Canyon on the outskirts of Lusaka.
The event brought together IDC men from various divisions for a refreshing blend of recreation and reflection, guided by wisdom from CEO Mr. Cornwell Muleya.
In his address, Mr. Muleya challenged the men to confront self-imposed limits.
“The limitations you have are because of what you fear,” he said, urging participants to be bold and intentional in their personal and professional lives. He reminded the team of the importance of teamwork and self-awareness: “There are things you can do alone and others you can only do with others. Know your strengths and weaknesses, then seek to do what you are strong at.”
He further reflected on the essence of group efforts: “Meetings are not work; they are opportunities to plan and agree on how each person contributes to the broader goal. Remember, you can have meetings with others and even with yourself.”
Acting Chief Human Capital Officer Mr. Owen Kabanda commended the initiative, noting that it was the first time IDC men had gathered to openly discuss issues that affect their productivity and wellbeing.
“Most of our internal activities focus on youth and women, but men also need a space to reconnect, reflect, and recharge,” he said.
The retreat ended with laughter, renewed purpose, and a strengthened sense of brotherhood, proof that growth can indeed begin from within.
