CELEBRATING AFRICA IN STYLE

Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) staff pulled out all the stops to mark Africa Freedom Day celebrations with a stunning showcase of African pride, culture and unity.
The celebration stretched over two weeks, beginning ahead of May 25, the historic day itself. From the very first day, the IDC offices transformed into a visual feast of African heritage, with offices and workspaces decked out in rich, colourful ornaments, symbolic artwork, and tributes to Africa’s great liberators and freedom fighters.
Staff proudly donned traditional attire, turning every workspace into a runway of vibrant fabrics and timeless African fashion. Each day brought a joyful “happy hour” where local languages flowed freely, and culture came alive through conversations.
Yesterday’s grand finale was nothing short of a carnival! The day kicked off with the judging of department displays. It was a lively contest of creativity and cultural expression. Soon after, it was time to feast the eyes and taste buds: Traditional food exhibitions and African fashion parades took centre stage, all judged by special guests from the Memorable Order of the Tin Hats (MOTH) Club, an organization of ex-service men.
The celebration culminated into an afternoon of music, dance, flavour, and festivity, a colourful African jamboree.
