KAGEM mining

Kagem Mining Limited operates a major open-pit emerald mine in the Ndola Rural Emerald Restricted Area on Zambia's Copperbelt. The company mines, processes and sells emeralds and beryl, supplying Zambian gemstones to international markets. Kagem combines extraction, processing, grading and responsible mineral marketing, making it an important example of Zambia's gemstone value chain. The operation is jointly associated with IDC and Gemfields, whose partnership has helped formalise production and strengthen the international profile of Zambian emeralds.
